- FOLKLORE STYLE CALYPSO & SOCA - LIVE

The Signal Hill Alumni Choir's repertoire for this concert recording includes Folk, African, Reggae, Gospel, Negro Spirituals and of course, Calypso renditions. The event was held at the auditorium of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago on September 11 and 12, 1998. The producer and other chorale music enthusiasts eagerly awaited the choir's performance of Ray Holman's arrangement of Merchant's powerful O'Trinidad lyrics. "We were all blown away by the spirituality of that performance" is how Simeon Sandiford described the performance. It is only one of the 70 odd minutes on this CD.

Experience the classical treatment of The Lord's Prayer, the jazzy How Excellent Is Your Name (Gillian's composition), the gospel/spiritual Swing Low Sweet Chariot, the calypso Jesus Is Boss & My Rock and My Fortress  - Ray Holman co-compositions.  The accompanists play the Piano, Pan, Bass, and Drums.  Nearly an hour of  a what can be called an inspirational  variety concert performed by accomplished artists.

EXODUS...   The  Exodus Steel Orchestra, spoken of in tones of reverence by the harshest of steelband music critics, presents its first compact disc. Eleven tracks including I Believe I Could Fly, Ray's Medley, Poet and Peasant Overture, Calypso For Africa, Rock With You, and Bahia Girl are recorded on the High Definition Compatible Digital process. The sonic fidelity of the HDCD process enhances even further Exodus' distinctive steelband sound.   

FOLKLORE CALYPSO - ONE CARIBBEAN VOICE... The Signal Hill Alumni Choir   performs their unique arrangements of  "longtime" and current calypsoes. They breathe new life into the works of  Terror, Roaring Lion, Kitch, David Rudder, Merchant, Tobago Crusoe, Black Stalin and Shadow.  Track 15 brings the Bajan Invasion giving us One Caribbean Voice.
