Legislative Caucus, the Caribbean Ad-Hoc Committee and Ambassadors from
Caribbean nations to celebrate the passage of legislation sponsored by the
Senate. The bill, Senate 1108, proclaimed that the governor declare the last week of
August be celebrated as Caribbean Week in Massachusetts. Noting that there are
more than 300,000 Caribbean nationals residing in the Commonwealth, Senator
Owens' legislation cited people of the Caribbean as, "distinguished
residents of the state who have made significant contributions to life in
Massachusetts." This year is the 10th Anniversary of the proclamation. A new Ad Hoc Committee,
including some of the original committee members, along with Representative
Shirley Owens-Hicks, Co-Chairs Donna Baptiste-Hardy and Paul Lewis and the
Celebration Committee invite your participation in the celebration events
Sunday, August 19 through Wednesday, August 22, 2001. Our contact persons are Donna Baptiste-Hardy, Co-Chair, 617/740-9682 and Paul
Lewis, Co-chair, 617/541-4155. E-mail us at CaribbeanWeek@eCaroh.com CARIBBEAN WEEK CELEBRATION EVENTS - Sunday, August 19, 2001: Ecumenical Service: Greenwood Church
